Title

Receive presentation on the Chatham County Low Income Tax Relief Program and vote for proposed changes

Abstract

The Low Income Tax Relief Program launched in February 2025.  This presentation is intended to give the board an update and stats on the program so far as well as recommendations for changes effective July 1st.

Discussion & Analysis: It is staff recommendation that the provisions of this program be changed to allow for it to be available to all residents earning 80% AMI or lower as well as residents who are already receiving a tax credit or exclusion.  Currently the program is available to residents earning 60% AMI or below and it is not available to residents who are already receiving another tax credit or exclusion.

How does this relate to the Comprehensive Plan: Housing 3.1 - Support existing and new assistance programs.

Budgetary Impact: No budgetary impact - funds already allocated.

Recommendation/Motion: Motion to approve the proposed changes in the low income tax relief program.
