Abstract
Introduction & Background: North Carolina G.S. 143-129(e)(6) authorizes the purchase of a product or service when performance or price competition is not available. Emergency Operations has a need to use real-time weather monitoring and alerting software products for daily operations as well as during emergency incidents and disasters. Baron Threat Net from Baron Weather solves this need. Parks and Recreation will also benefit from this product through a collaboration with Emergency Operations, to provide park staff with real-time weather alerts for lightning, wet bulb temperatures and other data points ensuring program participants are safe during severe weather.
Discussion & Analysis: Baron Threat Net will allow us to be more proactive with severe weather threats during daily operations, special events, camps, emergency incidents and disaster responses. Baron Weather also integrates into WebEOC, an incident management software.
