Vote to approve the lease agreement with Love Chatham, Inc. for the operation of the transitional housing facility located at 57 Camp Drive in Pittsboro
Abstract
Introduction & Background: On June 17, 2024, the Chatham County Board of Commissioners approved an agreement with True Homes, LLC to construct a single-family residential home on County-owned property at 57 Camp Drive in Pittsboro. The purpose of this project is to support the operation and provision of transitional housing services.
Discussion & Analysis: True Homes held a groundbreaking ceremony on October 6, 2024, and releasee the completed home to Chatham County on August 1, 2025. Love Chatham, a local nonprofit organization, currently operates a transitional housing facility in Siler City and seeks to expand its services by operating an additional facility in Pittsboro.
As required by NCGS 160A-272, a public notice regarding the proposed lease was published in the legal section of the Chatham News + Record on July 17, 2025.
How does this relate to the Comprehensive Plan: This project supports the Comprehensive Plan’s goals to expand affordable and supportive housing, strengthen partnerships with local nonprofits, and promote community well-being across the county.
Budgetary Impact: Long-term maintenance and upkeep of the facility as well as preventative maintenance activities can be anticipated to impact the operating budget and/or the Capital Maintenance and Repair (CMRP) function within the county’s Capital Reserve. While sometimes unpredictable, staff will plan for these activities as with other county facilities.
Recommendation/Motion: Motion to approve the lease agreement with Love Chatham, Inc. for the operation of the transitional housing facility located at 57 Camp Drive in Pittsboro.
