Abstract
Action Requested: Vote on a request to approve a contract extension with Weiser Security Services, Inc. to provide attendants at solid waste and recycling collection centers.
Introduction & Background: Weiser Security Services currently provides attendants at the County’s 12 collection centers. Their contract ends on June 30, 2022. This extension would change the end date to September 30, 2022, adding an additional three months to the current contract.
Discussion & Analysis: There is a proposal in the budget for fiscal year 2023 for the County to bring the attendants at the County’s collection centers in-house, rather than contract for these services. This contract extension will give county staff time to establish and recruit for these positions, in additions to arranging for uniforms and other supplies that will be needed.
How does this relate to the Comprehensive Plan: Objective 7: Provide infrastructure to support desired development and support economic and environmental objectives.
Budgetary Impact: The contract extension and proposal to bring the attendants in house are included in the proposed budget for fiscal year 2023.
