Action Requested: Vote on a request to approve $2,633.92 Blue Cross Blue Shield Professional Development Funds.
Introduction & Background: Blue Cross Blue Shield Foundation through their Community Centered Health program has made professional development funds available to recipients of the Community Centered Health Home Project to deepen understand of Community Centered Health and build partnerships. The Health Department would like to use this funding to send representatives from the Health Department, Chatham Hospital and Piedmont Health Services to the 2017 Communities Joined in Action Conference.
Discussion & Analysis: Each year Communities Joined in Action brings together stakeholders from across the country to share emerging lesson and innovations to improve our health care delivery system and to take actions that improve health in our communities. The 2017 conference will include compelling plenary presentations by national leaders, large and small group discussions of current challenges and opportunities, and focused workshops to share and discuss local, regional and national innovations. The conference is most appropriate for members of community based organizations and coalitions, healthcare providers, hospitals and health systems, community health centers, free clinics, donated care networks, public health professionals and anyone interested in improving the health of underserved communities.
Budgetary Impact: $3,333.05 of Healthy People, Healthy Carolinas Funds will be leveraged. This is a budgeted and approved expense for Healthy People, Healthy Carolinas.
