Abstract

Action Requested: Vote on a request to approve $22,154 Preparedness State Funds

Introduction & Background: The Division of Public Health (DPH), Public Health Preparedness & Response (PHP&R) Branch, periodically makes additional funding available to Local Health Departments (LHD) to pursue innovative preparedness-related projects.  The “Bright Ideas” program is the mechanism by which the additional funding is awarded on a competitive basis to the LHD whose application provides the best outputs and outcomes for the amount of funding requested.

Discussion & Analysis: This Agreement Addendum Revision #2 awards additional funds as part of the “Bright Ideas” project to the LHD to collect representative data of county residents related to recent natural disasters and community health priorities, and to test the effectiveness of a cohort approach to the Centers for Disease Control’s (CDC) Community Assessment for Public Health Emergency Response (CASPER)-based community assessments.

How does this relate to the Comprehensive Plan: The Community Assessment is recommended in the Comprehensive Plan to track progress on key indicators and inform future efforts.

Budgetary Impact: No Local Funding Requested

Recommendation: Vote on a request to approve $22,154 Preparedness State Funds
