Abstract

Vote to reappoint Judith Malone, RN, to fill a second (2nd) term on the Board of Health as a public member, effective January 27, 2023.

 

Introduction & Background: The Chatham County Board of Health is the policy making, rule-making, and adjudicatory body for the Chatham County Public Health Department.

According to General Statute 130-A-35, the composition of the Board shall reasonably reflect the population makeup of the county and be composed of eleven (11) members: one physician licensed to practice medicine in this State, one licensed dentist, one licensed optometrist, one licensed veterinarian, one registered nurse, one licensed pharmacist, one county commissioner, one professional engineer, and three (3) representatives of general public.

                     

Discussion & Analysis: Board members may serve up to three (3) consecutive three (3) year terms.  The Board of Health recommends Judith Malone, RN to serve a second (2nd) term on the Board of Health as a member of the public. Ms. Malone has continued to serve on the Board of Health; however, official Board of Commissioner reappointment is needed with an effective date of January 27, 2023.

Budgetary Impact: Board of Health members are provided mileage to and from meetings and a meal.

Adequate funds are budgeted annually in the Health Department Budget.
