Receive an update from Parks and Recreation on Trails and Open Space
Abstract
Introduction & Background: An update to the Board of Commissioners on Ben Rippe’s work with trails and open space in Chatham County. Since coming on board with the County in January of 2023, Ben has been working on developing a trails program for the Parks and Recreation department.
Discussion & Analysis: This presentation will provide an update on various efforts to expand trail networks within County parks, work to advance planning on several state trails and greenways in Chatham County, and assistance with other open space and recreation planning efforts.
How does this relate to the Comprehensive Plan: The County’s Trails and Open Space Planner’s work address’s goal six from the Comprehensive Plan, which is to provide recreational opportunities and access to open space. This work also relates to the goals of conserving natural resources (goal five) and fostering a healthy community (goal ten).
