Introduction & Background: International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD) is observed every year on August 31. It’s recognized globally as the largest annual campaign to end overdose, remember without stigma those who have died, and acknowledge the grief of family and friends left behind.

• Reducing the stigma associated with drug-related deaths.
• Raising awareness about the risks of overdose.
• Promoting evidence-based prevention and intervention strategies.
• Encouraging community dialogue around harm reduction and support services.
