Abstract
Vote to accept $48,936 in carryover ARPA Workforce Development NCDHHS funds from Guilford County to support staff development and training needs around the public health core competencies as well as infrastructure improvements.
Introduction & Background: Each local health department region in North Carolina received ARPA funding to strengthen local public health infrastructure. Guilford County Health Department serves as the lead for Chatham’s region and manages this funding to support regional efforts. These funds, which are predominantly carryover funds from last fiscal year, support staff training and development, with a focus on public health core competencies. In addition, funds can support other infrastructure needs.
Discussion & Analysis: This funding will be used to fund staff training opportunities, leveraging an upcoming skills assessment being conducted with all department staff. In addition, funds will be used for infrastructure improvements, which may include digitizing paper-based records and purchasing computer equipment and software for staff. These funds will end in May 2024.
