Abstract
Action Requested: Vote on request to approve awarding bid for new mowing contract for four departments (Facilities, Utilities and Water, Parks and Recreation, and Solid Waste and Recycling) to Haw River Landscaping under four separate contracts and authorize the County Manager to negotiate and execute the agreement.

Introduction & Background: Mowing across the four departments is a standard operation expense annually. Bids are sought on a cycle of three years, provided the contractor is performing satisfactorily. The award standard is for a one-year contract, with the option to renew two additional one-year terms upon mutual agreement. If the contractor desires, pricing will be revisited after the first contract year relating to market conditions for fuel.

Discussion & Analysis: The County sought formal bids for mowing services. Three bids were received for all four departments:

The mowing season is approximately July 1, 2022-November 30, 2022, and March 1, 2023-June 30, 2023, or about 38 weeks. The estimated total is based on 38 weeks of mowing, based on individual departments requirements. The estimated annual calculation is $190,194; and if the contract is performed satisfactorily, the three-year estimate is $570,582.00
