Abstract
Action Requested: Vote on a request to approve Interlocal Agreement with Goldston.
Introduction & Background: The Town of Goldston has recently completed the construction of a public wastewater collection system within the town limits. State Environmental Health regulations administered by the County’s Environmental Health Department require the abandonment of existing on-site wastewater collection and treatment systems (septic tanks) upon connection to the Town’s public gravity wastewater collection system for public health and safety reasons. The County agreed on February 17, 2014 to assist the Town in order to address these public health concerns by granting the Town “up to $1,000.00 per tank up to a maximum of 181 tanks”. The Town has a licensed contractor engaged to perform this abandonment work as permitted by the County and the proposed Interlocal Agreement is intended to provide the administrative framework for the assistance. In order for the County to disburse the funds to the Town, the County and the Town must enter into an interlocal agreement. The attached agreement specifies the required action by the Town and the County.
Budgetary Impact: The County set aside the maximum amount that will be required for this project during the prior fiscal year. There will be no budgetary impact this fiscal year.
