Action Requested: Appointment of Tax Assessor and Collector
Introduction & Background: The governing body of each county shall appoint a Tax Assessor and Collector to serve for a term to be set in accordance to NCGS 105-294(a) and 105-349.
Discussion & Analysis: Frances Wilson, Tax Assessor and Collector will be retiring effective July 1, 2015. Staff reviewed applications and interviewed candidates for the position. The best qualified applicant was Clyde "Kep" Kepley. Mr. Kepley has 24 years of experience as a tax official in both assessing and collections. The State requires Assessors to become certified within two years of the appointment. Mr. Kepley has earned his certification as an Assessor.

Recommendation: Staff recommends that Mr. Kepley be appointed for a term of two years as Assessor and Collector.
