Title

Vote on a request to amend rules of procedure for advisory committees that fall under the Chatham County Board of Commissioners Advisory Committee Policy to allow remote meetings when there is not a declared North Carolina State of Emergency.

Abstract

Introduction & Background: Many members of various advisory committees have expressed a desire to continue to be able to meet remotely. In order to allow for maximum participation of advisory committee members, it is requested to amend the rules of procedure for advisory committees that fall under the Chatham County Board of Commissioners Advisory Committee Policy to allow remote meetings when there is not a declared North Carolina State of Emergency. The advisory committees under this policy are:

-                     Affordable Housing Advisory Committee

-                     Climate Change Advisory Committee

-                     Environmental Review Advisory Committee

-                     Library Advisory Committee

-                     Recreation Advisory Committee

-                     Transportation Advisory Committee

Discussion & Analysis: The amendment to rules of procedure allowing advisory committees to meet remotely if there is not a North Carolina State of Emergency does not apply to boards that make quasi-judicial decisions including:

-                     Board of Equalization and Review

-                     Board of Adjustment

-                     Watershed Review Board

How does this relate to the Comprehensive Plan: N/A

Budgetary Impact: N/A

Recommendation/Motion: Motion to approve amending rules of procedure for advisory committees that fall under the Chatham County Board of Commissioners Advisory Committee Policy to allow remote meetings when there is not a declared North Carolina State of Emergency.
