Abstract
Introduction & Background: Lankford Protective Services is contracted to provide attendants for our twelve Collection Centers.
Discussion & Analysis: Chatham County currently has source separated recycling, where residents have to separate recyclables by type. The Solid Waste & Recycling Division is in the process of changing to a single stream system where the recyclables can be all mixed together. This will make recycling easier for residents and should increase the total amount of recyclables being collected. The new system will bring with it a lot of changes at the Collection Centers and we will be relying heavily on the attendants to help us educate residents. We will be putting the contract for the Collection Centers out for bid next year, but did not want to do so during this transition period.
Budgetary Impact: None.
Recommendation: Approve Amendment.
