Vote on a request to approve $5,000 Ebola Preparedness and Response Funds Reduction

Abstract

Action Requested: Vote on a request to approve $5,000 Ebola Preparedness and Response Funds Reduction.

Introduction & Background: North Carolina Public Health Preparedness and Response (PHP&R) over the past two years has worked diligently with its community partners to aggressively prepare for, respond to and recover from diseases related to high consequence pathogens including Ebola Virus Disease (EVD).  Because of the broad challenges that “high consequence pathogens” present, efforts are focused on specific steps in the preparedness cycle.

The NC PHP&R approach focuses on its response system including risk communication, training and response materials and because of that quick response system; public health plans that are coordinated within their public health authority are able to function effectively.

Discussion & Analysis: This Agreement Addendum Revision #1 reflects a reduction in funds in order to focus activities in a step-wise approach to overall planning as described in the Scope of Work and Deliverables.

One informational sharing session or one training session, meeting, webinar, and/or conference call for responding to high consequence pathogens such as EVD by May 31, 2016.

Plan and facilitate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) training for staff and partners for responding to EVD by May 31, 2016.

Budgetary Impact: No Local Funding Requested.

Recommendation: Vote on a request to approve $5,000 Ebola Preparedness and Response Funds Reduction.
