Vote to approve a 3-year Memorandum of Understanding between the Chatham County Public Health Department (CCPHD) and Chatham Hospital Regarding Temporary Storage of Health Department Vaccines During an Approved Time of Need
Abstract
Introduction & Background: The CCPHD owns and maintains a supply of vaccines intended for administration through its Siler City clinic to the Chatham community which must be stored in a temperature-controlled facility. While the CCPHD has onsite backup solutions for a power outage, including a generator, Chatham Hospital has agreed to serve as a secondary option in the event of an extended power outage.
Discussion & Analysis: The CCPHD and Chatham Hospital have a long history of partnership to improve public health in Chatham County. This secondary vaccine storage solution is part of public health emergency preparedness efforts to provide assurance during extreme events.
How does this relate to the Comprehensive Plan: The work of this team is in alignment with the goal of “Foster a Healthy Community.”
