Action Requested: Vote to approve the requested appointment of John Eldridge as the Board of Commissioner’s representative on the Chatham Trades Inc. Board of Directors.
Introduction & Background: Chatham Trades, Inc. is a non-profit organization that seeks and trains adults with developmental disabilities who are living in Chatham County, for appropriate employment. Services provided are community-based assessments, case management, job placement, vocational evaluations, compensatory education, industrial services and referrals. Chatham Trades, Inc. provides work training by sub-contracting with businesses and industry in the area. They currently have a vacancy on the Board of Directors, which is a required appointment by the Board of Commissioners. They advertised the vacancy and are recommending the appointment of John Eldridge, Ph.D, who is a long-time education administrator who lives in Siler City.
