Abstract

Introduction & Background: During the May 2024 Budget Work Sessions, the Board of Commissioners discussed the importance of having joint meetings with the other local elected boards. The Board directed staff come back to a future meeting with a proposal for planning such meetings.

Discussion & Analysis: After research and internal staff discussions, staff proposes the following:

-                     First Quarter - meet with the Town of Siler City

-                     Second Quarter - meet with the Town of Pittsboro

-                     Second Quarter - meet with the Board of Education

-                     Third Quarter - meet with the Town of Goldston

-                     Fourth Quarter - one meeting with all the Town Boards listed above

Staff also recommend the towns each host their meeting with the County Board of Commissioners and the County Board of Commissioners host the final meeting of all five local elected boards. County staff will work with the staff of the towns and schools to develop the agendas for each meeting.
