Vote to accept $8,000 in Ann Wolfe mini grant funds through the NC Public Health Association for healthy homes supplies
Abstract
Introduction & Background: Homes often have hazards, particularly for babies and young children. Falls and other unintentional injuries are preventable; however, families often lack the resources needed to help prevent them. The Chatham County Public Health Department and partners like Safe Kids and DSS work together to address these issues through education, campaigns, and supplying resources. In September 2024, the Chatham County Public Health Department received $8,000 from the North Carolina Public Health Association’s Anne Wolfe mini grant program to increase access to home safety items for low income and vulnerable families with children.
Discussion & Analysis: Items to be purchased with this funding include: pack and plays, safe sleep sacks, outlet plug covers, baby safety gates, doorknob covers, and more. Distribution is expected to begin in spring 2025.
