Abstract
Action Requested: Motion to authorize the purchase of one vehicle for Animal Resources (Ram 2500 Crew Cab Pickup with Spec# 181) on North Carolina Sheriffs’ Association Competitive Bid Award #20-06-0911, in the amount of $ 50,612.55 for vehicle & transport box only.
Introduction & Background: As part of the budget process each year, vehicles are evaluated for mileage and reliability for the purpose of law enforcement support. A total of one vehicle was approved for the Sheriff's Office capital outlay budget for Animal Resource Center.
The NC General Statutes allow the County to use Cooperative purchasing contracts through the North Carolina Sheriffs Association. The formal bid process has been conducted by the NC Purchasing & Contract Division. Under the guidelines of G.S. 143-129(e)(3), the State contract purchases are exempt from additional bidding processes.
Discussion & Analysis: The addition of this requested vehicle will benefit this office by replacing a higher mileage vehicle which requires more maintenance. Delivery of the new vehicles is expected to take 3-9 months.
Budgetary Impact: Funds are included in the Chatham County Sheriff's Office FY2020-21 budget for capital outlay.
