Title

Vote to approve a subaward agreement with Chatham County Schools for ventilation system improvements to existing gymnasiums using American Rescue Plan Act funds totaling $2 million.

Abstract

Introduction & Background: Six (6) school gymnasiums (Chatham Middle, George Moses Horton Middle, Moncure School, JS Waters School, North Chatham Elementary, and Perry Harrison Elementary) do not currently have HVAC systems. Through a subaward agreement utilizing a portion of the county’s allocation of American Rescue Plan Act funds, Chatham County Schools would be able to install improved ventilation systems in all six gymnasiums. U.S. Treasury guidance allows the expenditure of ARPA funds for ventilation improvements in congregate settings such as schools under expenditure category 1.4.
