Abstract
Action Requested: Receive an update on the status of the Solid Waste Advisory Committee (SWAC).
Introduction & Background: The SWAC has found a diminishing need to meet over the past few years and has voted to suspend the activities of the Committee until such time as the Board of Commissioners has a specific project or occurrence that could benefit from the knowledge and experience of the Committee members.
Discussion & Analysis: With the completion of the landfill siting study and state legislation that no longer requires the preparation of the 10-Year Solid Waste Management Plan and the associated public meetings, there has been a decreasing need to meet. Over the past 2 years, only 2 meetings have been held where a quorum attended. At their meeting on June 3, 2015, the Committee unanimously agreed to suspend the activities of the Committee until such time as the Board of Commissioners has a specific project or occurrence that could benefit from the knowledge and experience of the Committee members.

Recommendation: Accept the SWAC recommendation to suspend the activities of the Committee until such time as the Board of Commissioners has a specific project or occurrence that could benefit from the knowledge and experience of the Committee members.
