Abstract
Introduction & Background: On February 1, 2016, the Chatham County Board of Commissioners approved a lease agreement for the county space located at 118 West Street to the Chatham Arts Council.
Discussion & Analysis: The following notice was published in the legal section of the Chatham News and Record on March 13, 2025 as required by NCGS 160A-272:
PUBLIC NOTICE LEASE OF COUNTY PROPERTY
The Board of Commissioners of Chatham County intends to enter into a lease agreement for the following County-owned property: CHATHAM ARTS COUNCIL, INC. intends to lease office space located in a building located at 118 West Street, Pittsboro, in Chatham County, North Carolina, all as more definitely described on the attached Exhibit A, which is by reference hereto made a part hereof (hereinafter "Premises) under a lease agreement commencing April 1, 2025. The County intends to lease the property to the CHATHAM ARTS COUNCIL, INC. for a period of three (3) years to terminate on the 31st day of March, 2028 provided all conditions of the Lease have been properly complied with by Tenant. In consideration of the lease, Landlord has agreed to allow the Tenant to use property for the annual sum of $2,280.00. A copy of the Lease is available for review in the Office of the County Clerk during regular business hours. All persons interested in this lease are invited to attend the meeting of the Board of Commissioners to be held at the Historic Courthouse, 9 Hillsboro, Pittsboro, NC, on Monday, April 21, 2025, at 6:00 P.M. At that time the Board intends to authorize the extension of the lease of the property described above.
