Vote to approve the application for the North Carolina Law Enforcement - Performance & Wellness Funding Grant Administered by the North Carolina Chiefs of Police Association
Abstract
Introduction & Background: The North Carolina Law Enforcement Performance and Wellness Grant provide essential funding for our First Health mental health program. This program provides employees with access to a medical professional who can offer confidential support and guidance regarding mental health concerns, personal challenges, stress, and other issues that may affect an employee’s overall well-being and ability to perform effectively at work.
Discussion & Analysis: The North Carolina Law Enforcement Performance and Wellness Grant is integral to establishing mental health services on site for all Sheriff’s Office personnel. The funding from this grant would allow the Sheriff’s Office to evaluate and sustain a resource that supports employees before personal or mental health concerns escalate into more significant issues, including absenteeism, decreased productivity, burnout, or employee turnover. Providing employees with an accessible and confidential resource demonstrates our commitment to the well-being of its workforce while helping employees remain healthy, engaged, and productive.
How does this relate to the Comprehensive Plan: This proposal directly aligns with the Comprehensive Plan by reinforcing commitment to a safe and healthy community. This grant will support Sheriff’s Office personnel by providing mental health services and ensuring that all personnel are given the necessary tools to thrive in their roles.
Budgetary Impact: The funding from the Performance and Wellness grant will cover the cost for two years of onsite mental health services for Sheriff’s Office Personnel.
