Title
Vote to accept $13,618 from the NCDHHS Food Protection and Facilities Branch to support the Environmental Health Food and Lodging Program
Abstract
Introduction & Background: The state legislature established a State Inspections Statistics and Fees Program within the Environmental Health Section to collect fees for food service establishments to fund a portion of local expenditures for state mandated inspections. This program centralizes public health data, invoices regulated facilities and distributes the funds in accordance with GS 130A 248(d). The receipts collected are redistributed to local environmental health programs in the form of aid to counties.
Discussion & Analysis: The funds are distributed to local environmental health divisions to support the retail food program and are allocated to counties based on percentage of food service inspections conducted and submission of quality assurance activities. These funds will be used to purchase office supplies and program equipment including thermometers, test strips, educational materials, and well water sample containers.
How does this relate to the Comprehensive Plan: Goal 10: Foster a health community.
Budgetary Impact: No Local Funding Requested
Recommendation: Motion to accept $13,618 from the NCDHHS Food Protection and Facilities Branch.
