Abstract
Introduction & Background: The Chatham County Board of Commissioners will be holding a Special Meeting on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at the Chatham County Agriculture & Conference Center. The purpose of the meeting is to provide an opportunity for residents of Chatham County to offer public comment regarding the proposed Enbridge Gas 28-mile Natural Gas System Expansion Project that would traverse portions of Chatham County.
Discussion & Analysis: The Board recognizes the significant public interest surrounding this proposed infrastructure project and seeks to provide an organized and accessible forum for residents to share their perspectives, concerns, and recommendations. Public comments received during the meeting will assist the Board in understanding community sentiment and identifying topics of interest related to the proposal.
Residents who are unable to attend or who wish to provide more detailed information may submit written comments to the Clerk to the Board for distribution to the Board of Commissioners and inclusion in the official meeting record.
Residents may register to speak through the public comment sign-up form on the county website. The meeting will also be available for public viewing via Zoom.
To facilitate the broad public participation, the board will discuss rules related to speaker time, number of speakers, and length of the comment period.
