A request from staff to discuss the RFP for the Chatham County Comprehensive plan.
Discussion & Analysis:
Following discussion with the Board of Commissioners during the June 15th meeting, staff requested a follow up presentation for the July 20th work session of the Board to further discuss the details surrounding the plan's timeline and steering committee composition. The areas of discussion are outlined below.
Chronology
If the Board deems the draft Comprehensive Plan RFP acceptable and ready for immediate release, the following timeline is recommended:
* July 20- Board of Commissioners direction to proceed with RFP
* Paper advertisement week of July 20th.
* August 21st deadline for RFP submission.
* Candidate interviews September 16th- 22nd.
* Steering Committee appointments September 21st Board of Commissioners meeting.
* Comprehensive Plan Contract award October 19th Board of Commissioners meeting.
Phase 1 Participation
A component of the 3 month phase 1 process is a series of Stakeholder meetings. Groups that will be engaged for input from the plan's consultants include meeting with the Board of Commissioners, a meeting with the Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee, meetings with County Advisory Boards and meetings with key technical staff and municipal representatives.
The key technical staff is envisioned to be compromised of county department heads and representatives from the Chatham County School system. Municipal representatives will likely be managers and/or planning staff from the respective jurisdictions.
Steering Committee
