ABSTRACT
Durham Chapel Hill Carrboro Metropolitan Planning Organization (DCHC MPO) Comprehensive Transportation Plan (CTP)
Action Requested:
Review and Provide Feedback to the Comprehensive Transportation Plan for the Northeastern Portion of Chatham County.
Introduction & Background:
As a joint effort between the Municipalities of Chapel Hill, Hillsborough, Carrboro, Durham; the Counties of Orange, Durham, and Chatham; the area's Transit Operators: Go Durham, Go Triangle, Orange Public Transit, Chapel Hill Transit, and Chatham Transit; the DCHC Metropolitan Planning Organization & the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), a draft Comprehensive Transportation Plan has been developed for the Metropolitan Planning Organization. This includes the Northeastern portion of Chatham County. The CTP is a long range planning document that will assist local government and its representatives in making transportation decisions over the next 25-30 years.
Discussion & Analysis:
The draft CTP completed NCDOT internal review and was released by the DCHC MPO Board for public comment on December 14th. The County's Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC) also received and reviewed the CTP on December 6th 2016. The Draft CTP is available for public comment on the MPO website. There will also be a public workshop on February 22nd 2017 at the Chatham Community Library Holmes meeting room from 5-7 PM in conjunction with the County's comprehensive land use plan public input workshops. Chatham County Planning Staff, DCHC MPO Staff, and NCDOT Staff from the Transportation Planning Branch will be available to answer questions and gather input at the workshop. After input is received and incorporated from all Jurisdictions within the DCHC MPO Boundary, the CTP will go before the MPO Board and NCDOT Board of Transportation for adoption.
