Abstract
Action Requested: Vote on a request to approve the annual renewal of the bond for Sheriff Mike Roberson as Chatham County Sheriff.
Introduction & Background: NC General Statute (NCGS) 162-9 requires that the Board of Commissioners approve the official bond of the Sheriff. NCGS 162-8 requires that the Sheriff furnish a bond payable to the State of North Carolina for execution and return of process, payment of fees collected, and faithful execution of his office as Sheriff upon his election. This bond, issued by Travelers Casualty and Surety Company of America, is presently renewed on an annual basis each May.
Recommendation: Approve the annual renewal of the bond for Sheriff Mike Roberson as Chatham County Sheriff.
