Receive an update on Chatham County Planning Transportation
Abstract
Introduction & Background: An update from the Transportation Planner, Thanh Schado, summarizing the projects, plans, and studies that have been ongoing in Chatham County and the surrounding areas. The presentation will specifically mention updates regarding the Transportation Advisory Committee, give an overview of transportation planning locally, and outline projects conducted in partnership with the MPOs/RPOs.
Discussion & Analysis: The discussion will allow the BOC to gain a comprehensive update on the current progress of transportation planning in Chatham County from a local, regional, and statewide perspective. Questions, suggestions, and concerns are encouraged to be shared by the Board regarding the topics covered in the presentation and other questions pertaining to transportation planning.
How does this relate to the Comprehensive Plan: The Comprehensive Plan calls for action items supporting transportation planning in Chatham County. Having a full-time staff member dedicated solely to transportation planning will ensure consistent and effective efforts to support safe bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure, access to multi-modal transit systems, and increase connectivity between municipalities and neighboring counties.
