Vote on a request to approve Community Child Protection Team Appointments
Abstract
Action Requested: Consider and approve appointments to the Chatham County Community Child Protection Team (CCPT)
Introduction & Background: NCGS 7B-1406 outlines duties and membership of the CCPT. The Board of County Commissioners may appoint up to five additional members to represent county agencies or the community at large. This provides an opportunity to involve all entities of the community that impact children. The following individuals have been actively involved in the CCPT and are recommended by the team to be appointed by the BOC:
• Carmen Coley, Victim Services Advocate
• Dr. Luke Smith (or his designee), Medical Director, El Futuro
• Genevieve Megginson, Executive Director, County Partnership for Children
• Shirille Lee, Mentoring Program Manager, Communities in Schools of Chatham County
• Deb Flowers, Nurse Practitioner, Program Consultant and Nurse Consultant, NC Child Medical Evaluation Program, UNC Department of Pediatrics and UNC Beacon Child Abuse Team
