Recognize Retiree Jana Wiley

Abstract

Introduction & Background: Jana Wiley is retiring at the end of this month after 30 years of service with the Chatham County Public Health Department.

Discussion & Analysis: Starting in 1996 as a processing assistant IV, Jana was promoted three years later to a social worker role with the adolescent parenting program, working with youth who were pregnant or parenting.  In 2003 she transferred to the child services coordinator position.  She has worked to educate families on shaken baby prevention, proper use of car seats, and advocated for the health and wellbeing of the youth in Chatham County.  More recently, Jana worked with the Community Alternatives Program (CAP) as a case manager, helping families caring for medically disabled adults instead of placing them in a nursing facility.

Jana has navigated the changing landscape of public health in Chatham County with an unwavering commitment to the community.  We thank her for her years of dedicated service and wish her the best in her retirement.
