Abstract
Action Requested: Vote on request to approve the contract with Waste Management and to authorize the County Manager to execute the contract.
Introduction & Background: Compactor and bulky containers are taken from some Collection Centers and hauled to Waste Management in Sanford and Randolph County.
Discussion & Analysis: The majority of our Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) tonnage is taken to the Great Oak landfill in Randolph County. We sign agreements every fiscal year specifying the cost per ton at each disposal location.
How does this relate to the Comprehensive Plan: Become more resilient by mitigating, responding, and adapting to emerging threats.
Budgetary Impact: Cost per ton is included in the operating budget.
