Vote on a request to approve Sheriff Vehicle Purchase (Animal resource Center) 2021-2022.
Abstract
Action Requested: Motion to authorize the purchase of one F150 Ford Pickup for Animal Resource Center on State Contract NC70A, in the amount of $34,995 for vehicle only and $22,412.16 from (Org. 1102015-Obj. 980010) paid to the dealer for the addition of the Dog Box. Total to Dealer 57,407.16 for vehicle.
Introduction & Background: As part of the budget process each year, vehicles are evaluated for mileage and reliability for the purpose of law enforcement support. A total of one vehicle for Animal Resource Center was approved for the Sheriff's Office capital outlay budget.
The NC General Statutes allow the County to use Cooperative purchasing contracts through the North Carolina State Contract NC70A. The formal bid process has been conducted by the NC Purchasing & Contract Division. Under the guidelines of G.S. 143-129(e)(3), the State contract purchases are exempt from additional bidding processes.
Discussion & Analysis: The addition of this requested vehicle will benefit this office by replacing a higher mileage vehicle which require more maintenance. Delivery of the new vehicles is expected to take 2-6 months.
Budgetary Impact: Funds are included in the Chatham County Sheriff's Office FY2021-22 budget for capital outlay.
Recommendation: Consideration of a request to purchase a F150 Ford Pickup for Animal Resource Center on North Carolina State Competitive Bid Award #202100002, in the amount of $57,407.16 for vehicles with dog box only.
