Abstract
Introduction & Background: The Triangle West Transportation Planning Organization (TWTPO) is the regional organization responsible for transportation planning for the western part of the Research Triangle area in North Carolina. The Triangle West TPO is an umbrella organization comprised of the TPO Board, the Technical Committee (TC), local governments, and the State. The TPO Board, designated by the Governor, is a policy body that coordinates and makes decisions on transportation planning issues. TWTPO's urbanized area includes Durham County, a portion of Orange County including the Towns of Chapel Hill, Carrboro, and Hillsborough, and Northeast Chatham County.

Discussion & Analysis: The Triangle West Transportation Planning Organization (TWTPO) benefits Chatham County in several ways by providing a framework for transportation planning, regional coordination, and collaboration.
