Vote to adopt a resolution approving a Interlocal Agreement for the American Tobacco Trail and Development of Park Facilities with the Town of Cary

 

Abstract

Introduction & Background: Since 2009 Chatham County has outsourced the maintenance of 4.6 miles of the American Tobacco Trail that runs through Chatham County to the town of Cary. The current contract is set to expire in December of 2024.

 

Discussion & Analysis: The county is proposing extending the contract by three years, at which point we will re-evaluate the cost and staff availability to potentially take over maintenance ourselves.

 

How does this relate to the Comprehensive Plan: This relates to the goals of Providing recreational opportunities and access to open space, and fostering a healthy community

 

Budgetary Impact: $30,000 annually. This expense has been included in the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources department budget.

                     

Recommendation/Motion: Motion to adopt a resolution approving a Interlocal Agreement for the American Tobacco Trail and Development of Park Facilities with the Town of Cary.
