Title
Presentation on new GIS application

Abstract
Action Requested: Receive presentation

Introduction & Background: Chatham County entered into an enterprise licensing agreement with Esri this fiscal year allowing for expansion and reorganization of GIS services countywide. The services being shown as part of this presentation are part of our initial deployment of web applications and associated services to the public and county internal staff. The scope and amount of GIS services available to the public and county staff will continue to grow after this initial deployment, but what is being shown in this presentation are a core set of services needed to efficiently serve geographic information to the public and internal staff.
Discussion & Analysis:
Public Impact
A core component of the new platform is compatibility with mobile devices. All of the new web applications are viewable on any mobile device, tablet, or office PC. This will position the county to meet the needs and demands of citizens to access information on the go as the growth of mobile devices continues to expand. It will ultimately increase the visibility of GIS information to the public hopefully reducing phone calls to county offices. Additionally, the GIS data utilized in the entire suite of applications is current as of the previous business day giving the public more confidence that they can access the most current information when visiting our GIS applications.
Internal Impact
The new platform will allow for rapid expansion of GIS usage in various county departments giving the staff more power to create their own maps & applications that meet the business needs of their respective departments. The platform also allows for the MIS/GIS staff to more readily scale GIS solutions specific to department project workflows while decreasing our reliance on contractors to build custom solutions and reducing the development time to implement said workflows.
Budgetary Impact: N/A
