Action Requested: Approve an appointment to the Board of Directors of the Central Piedmont Community Action Inc.
Introduction & Background: The Joint Orange-Chatham Community Action, Inc. (JOCCA) has expanded its coverage and has a new name, Central Piedmont Community Action, Inc. (CPCA). They are the same organization but now they serve Orange, Chatham, Randolph, Lee, Anson, Richmond and Durham counties.
They sent a letter to Commissioner Hales asking for an official appointee from the Board of Commissioners. Commissioner Karen Howard had been designated last December 2015 as the JOCCA liaison, but executive director of CPCA has requested a formal appointment with a letter from our Board of Commissioners. The appointee is a voting member of the CPCA Board, which meets every other month, usually in Siler City. Commissioner Howard has agreed to fill this position.
