Annual Update from the Chatham County Affordable Housing Advisory Committee
Abstract
The Chair of the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee, John Foley will present the board with an annual update on the committee’s activities, and updated data that relates to the group’s mission and goals.
Introduction & Background:
Fall 2017, the Chatham County Affordable Housing Advisory Committee was relaunched. It has been charged with making recommendations to the Chatham County Board of Commissioners for procedures and policies around affordable housing and guiding the implementation of the Chatham County Affordable Housing Strategy Toolbox.
Discussion & Analysis:
The Affordable Housing Advisory Committee has been very busy over the last year. Many members of the committee are new to the topic of affordable housing, thus education through various guest speakers from different county departments or organizations working on affordable housing have been helping educate the committee about existing efforts, challenges, and opportunities. In addition to building knowledge on the subject matter, the committee has reviewed policies, has hosted an affordable housing tour, and is planning other events in the future. Today’s update will highlight the various activities and accomplishments of the committee as well as provide an update on data that relates to the critical goals of the committee’s work.
