Vote on a request to approve Re-appointment of Pharmacist Seat to the Board of Health - John M. Kessler, PharmD

 

Abstract

Action Requested: Vote on a request to re-appoint John M. Kessler, PharmD to continue serving on the Board Pharmacist Seat for another three (3) year term; effective 07-20-15.

                     

Introduction & Background: The County Board of Health is a policy-making, rule-making, and adjudicatory body for the Chatham County Public Health Department.

 

According to General Statute 130-35, the composition of the Board shall reasonably reflect the population makeup of the county and shall include:  Three public representatives, one licensed pharmacist, one licensed physician, one licensed veterinarian, one registered nurse, one licensed optometrist, one licensed dentist, one county commissioner, and one professional engineer.

                     

Discussion & Analysis:  John M. Kessler has served on the Board two terms.  He is employed at SecondStory Health, LLC as Founder and Chief Clinical Officer. 

Dr. Kessler credentials include a B.S. Pharmacy 1983 Duquesne University, Pittsburg, PA; Hospital Pharmacy Residencies (WVU hospitals 1978 and Mercy Hospitals 1981) and a Fellowship in Medication Safety, 1985, 1985 University of Cape Town, South Africa.

                     

Budgetary Impact: Board of Health members are compensated a per diem and mileage.  Adequate funds are funds are budgeted annually in the Health Department budget.
