Title
Vote to approve contract extensions with First Choice Home Care, Guardian Angels Home Care, and Champion Family Healthcare Services for the Aging Services In-Home Aide and Respite Care Programs
Abstract
Introduction & Background: Chatham County Aging Services currently utilizes First Choice Home Care, Guardian Angels Home Care, and Champion Family Healthcare Services to provide the In-Home Aide and Respite Care programs to older adults and family caregivers throughout Chatham County. Clients enrolled in these programs receive assistance with tasks such as bathing, dressing, toileting, and light housekeeping. The Family Caregiver Respite program allows caregivers to take a much-needed break and opportunity to tend to other tasks or appointments while their loved one is receiving care.
Chatham County entered into contracts with these three agencies on October 1, 2023, and this extension will be the second and final extension on the original contract. These contract extensions will run from October 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026 rather than the original October 1st through September 30th in order for new contracts to be aligned with our fiscal year. Additionally, each agency requested the following rates for FY 25-26: First Choice Home Care- $35.50/hour, Guardian Angels Home care- $31.00/hour, and Champion Family Healthcare Services- $28.00/hour.
Discussion & Analysis: These contracts are critical to providing in-home services for older adults who would otherwise have difficulty completing everyday tasks such as bathing, dressing, toileting, and light housekeeping. Additionally, through the Respite Care program, family caregivers often face burnout as caregiving is a 24/7 job. These services, allow caregivers to take a much-needed break to rest, take care of other tasks or responsibilities, and tend to their own appointments.
How does this relate to the Comprehensive Plan: The work of Chatham County Aging Services through the In-Home Aide and Respite Car...
