Vote to approve Moncure Fire Department Memorandum of Use Agreement for Remote Locker Access
Abstract
Introduction & Background: Chatham County Public Libraries was awarded a Library Services and Technology Act grant to install locker kiosks in the county for patrons who live in remote areas to access library materials at their convenience. The library is partnering with the Moncure Fire Department Station #8 to provide a location for residents in the surrounding area. Both parties agree to the terms outlined in the Memorandum of Use agreement.
Discussion & Analysis: Chatham County Public Libraries and the Moncure Fire Department will partner to install an automated self-service reservation kiosk to extend the reach, capability and service provision of the library. The remote lockers provide patrons with the opportunity to pick up library materials at their convenience, including outside of library operating hours.
How does this relate to the Comprehensive Plan: This project aids in providing equitable access to high quality education, and community options for all.
Budgetary Impact: The County shall be responsible, at its sole cost and expense, for the construction of the Pad and the installation, maintenance, repair, and replacement of the Book Lockers. The County shall have reasonable access to the Premises during normal business hours, and at other times upon reasonable advance notice, for purposes of constructing the Pad and installing, operating, maintaining, repairing, and replacing the Book Lockers.
Moncure Fire Responsibilities. Moncure Fire shall be responsible for ensuring the provision of and payment for any utilities, including electrical service and wi-fi connectivity, necessary for the operation of the Book Lockers. Moncure Fire shall provide reasonable cooperation to enable the County to perform its obligations under this Agreement.
Recommendation/Motion: Motion to approve Memorandum of Agreement with Moncure Fire Department to install remote lockers for residents to access library materials.
