Title

Vote to approve an agreement with UNC Health (Chatham Hospital) for signage and the temporary construction easement

Abstract

Introduction & Background: This signage agreement will help to create a joint project between Chatham County and UNC Health (Chatham Hospital) for construction of a lighted sign at the Alston Bridge Road entrance to the Central Carolina Business Park.

Discussion & Analysis: Chatham Hospital approached the County about the possibility of partnering on lighted signs for the entrances into the Business Park. At the Alston Bridge Road entrance, the County has sufficient land available for sign placement and would like to move forward in Partnership with the Hospital to have a sign installed. The County and Hospital will jointly agree on a design and placement of the sign. The Hospital will manage construction and then transfer ownership of the sign to the County until such a time as a property owner’s association is operational; at which point the County will transfer ownership to that association. The County will be responsible for maintenance/upkeep while owning the sign. The signage agreement details the specifics of sign design/construction, placement, and ownership/maintenance and the temporary construction easement grants UNC Health (Chatham Hospital), or their designee (contractor), rights to temporarily enter the property for purposes of construction.

How does this relate to the Comprehensive Plan: This signage project does not directly relate to the Comprehensive Plan; however, it does provide increased visibility of the projects within the Central Carolina Business Park, a number of which are addressing Comprehensive Plan goals and priorities.

Budgetary Impact: There is no impact on the FY2025 Operating Budget. The estimated total fiscal impact on the Central Carolina Business Campus capital project ordinance is approximately $24,000.

Recommendation/Motion: Motion Vote to approve an agreement with UNC Health (Chatham Hospital) for signage and the temporary construction easement.
