Vote to appoint Robin Lyons and Lenore Yarger to the Transportation Advisory Committee
Abstract
Introduction & Background:
The purpose of the Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC) is to identify and study issues and make recommendations to the county commissioners on transportation and related issues. The long- term goal is to have a sustainable transportation system that offers access to various modes of transportation for people and goods.
The TAC falls under the approved Advisory Committee Policy.
Has a total of eleven (11) voting members and up to eight (8) non-voting members.
Each commissioner appoints two (2) voting members from a list of recommended candidates to ensure geographic representation.
The non-voting members (up to eight) may represent Chatham County government, Chatham Transit Network, incorporated towns in the county or other appropriate organizations.
The voting members also should have knowledge or experience in one or more of the following: Non-motorized transportation, public transportation, personal motor vehicles, large, slow-moving or commercial vehicles, public safety, transportation & the economy, transportation & the environment, transportation and society (community).

District 2 - Robin Lyons (Commissioner Dasher has confirmed this appointment)
District 3 - Zoe Gabrielson
District 4 - Lenore Yarger (Commissioner Kenlan has confirmed this appointment)
How does this relate to the Comprehensive Plan: The Transportation Advisory Committee touches both goal 3 and 7 of the Plan Chatham.
Goal 3: Promote a compact growth pattern by developing in and near existing towns, communities, and in designated, well planned, walkable, mixed-use centers.
Goal 7: Provide infrastructure to support desired development and support economic and environmental objectives.
Budgetary Impact: There is no budgetary impact for the appointments.
