Abstract
Introduction & Background: The CCHA is a quasi-governmental agency that consists of five members, appointed by the Chatham County Board of Commissioners for a term of five years. Individuals serve on a voluntary basis. At least one member must be a person directly assisted by the authority. Members meet monthly at the office in Siler City.
The CCHA reviews and approves budgets for submission to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and oversees federal funds to help qualified low-income residents with their rental payments. The CCHA also works with some families in the rental subsidy program to develop five-year plans to become self-sufficient and help others in the program become homeowners through subsidized mortgages.
Discussion & Analysis:
At the June 19, 2025 Board of Commissioners, the board appointed Deepa Sanyal to the Chatham County Housing Authority Board. Deepa Sanyal has decided that she does not wish to serve.
