Presentation by Chatham EDC and Samet Corporation on Chatham-Siler City Advanced Manufacturing (CAM) Site.

Action Requested: Receive presentation

                     

Introduction & Background: The Chatham-Siler City Advanced Manufacturing (CAM) Site is an industrial megasite located within the Siler City ETJ and under option by Chatham County. The CAM Site has been under development for approximately 8 years and construction on a water line to the site, funded by Golden LEAF Foundation, is underway. The Chatham EDC continues to market the CAM Site to prospective new business.

                     

Discussion & Analysis: Introduction of the new professional developers, Samet Corporation, and presentation of its partnership with the Chatham EDC to develop the site.

 

How does this relate to the Comprehensive Plan: The CAM Site is identified as one the County’s Employment Centers and directly relates to the following goals: 1. Diversify the tax-base and generate more high-quality, in-county jobs to reduce dependence on residential property taxes, create economic opportunity and reduce out-commuting. 2. Provide infrastructure to support desired development and support economic and environmental objectives.
